Car Window Tinting Can Have Negative Drawbacks;

One of the things anyone considering having their car windows tinted should watch out for is the State Laws regarding the legal percentage of tint one is allowed to have on their car’s windows.

Each state varies on the legal limit of tint. The laws are not actually how dark the windows can be, as you might think. The laws are based on the amount of light the windows let in. For example, in the state of Texas, the legal limit on the driver and passenger doors is a standard 25%. Meaning the windows must allow 25% or more light in from outside.

Now having said that, it is advisable to note that the front windshield is only allowed to be tinted approximately 5-6″ from the top of the windshield down.

Usually, the rear window defers from all the rest. You should definitely check with your local Highway Patrol Station on the laws regarding car window tinting in your state.

Another drawback to tinted windows can be the negative attention they can draw towards your car. Some people see window tint as a way of hiding from something. Having privacy seems to make people curious as to why you want it to begin with. Just the way some people think.

Also, car window tinting can create problems at night with your not being able to see quite as clearly as you can during the daylight hours. If you already have poor eyesight or trouble seeing well, take that into consideration prior to blacking out your windows.

Finally, some states do not allow mirror tint at all. Mirror tint reflects the sun back into other drivers eyes causing them to be temporally blinded. You should be respectful of the other drivers when you consider car window tinting.

Dual pane window glass repair is required when damage occurs on the inside of a double glazed window. Replacement labor for installation tend to be costly.

But, with care and a little time, you may perform the dual pane window glass repair job yourself and save some money.

It won’t work if you simply detach the spacer from the side and attempt to do the cleaning through the half-inch slot.
It would be better if you detach a single pane from the insulate glass units, cleaning the insides and then resealing the insulate glass units.

1. Start by detaching a single window pane from the frame and laying it on a towel laid flat on a table. You’ll notice a dark, rubber-like material called butyl sealant on the window edge.
Failure of the butyl sealant probably contributed to the damage to the window.

2. Use a sharp knife with a clean blade to remove the glass from the butyl sealant.

3. Insert the knife through the butyl where it touches the glass.

4. Replace the knife with a new hacksaw blade between the spacer and the glass. Work the hacksaw around the perimeter of the glass.

5. When you’ve sawed around the edge of the pane, detach one pane of glass. Leave the remaining pane with the spacer on the towel. Once the separation of the panes is complete, clean the insides of the panes and the spacer carefully and methodically.

6. Use a putty knife to scrape dirt from the spacer. Use a vacuum cleaner on the window. Check the glass from every angle, looking for smudges. A solution of one cup of water, one cup isopropyl alcohol, and one tablespoon of white vinegar may be used to cleanse the glass. A hair dryer may also be employed to get rid of moisture. To recombine the insulate glass units, pour a bead of clear silicone around the edge of the spacer.

7. Place the glass on the spacer and use finger pressure to make an airtight seal. Pour a more generous bead of silicone around the edge of the pane.
8. Make certain that glass/spacer juncture is covered. Place a towel on the pane for 24 hours to permit the silicone to cure. After this time period, the pane can be replaced back into the opening.

Dual pane window glass repair, if done right and with a little luck, is a do it yourself proposition. There’s no need to shell out the money. With care and effort, you yourself can perform dual pane window glass repair.
