How to Remove Window Tint

Whether you just want to change tints or if your window tint’s quality has deteriorated over time, you’re going to be asking a simple question: how to remove window tint?
Now, if you’re wondering about how to remove window tint, there are actually several methods you can use. Here are a few ways for you to deal with your old window tint.
The easiest way to remove window tint makes use of a fabric steamer. And though it will set you back by roughly $25, it’ll definitely be worth it. It’s as simple as filling the steamer, turning it on and steaming your windows for a few minutes. After steaming the glue will melt off and you can easily peel off the tint. After the tint’s removal apply adhesive remover and wipe clean. Presto! No more tint, and no mess. All of this is doable in roughly an hour’s time. How to remove window tint doesn’t seem too complicated now does it?
A second method makes use of detergent, water and newspapers. First apply some soapy detergent water onto the glass with a household sponge. Then cover it with newspaper. With the newspaper still up continually reapply soapy water for every 20 minutes and keep doing so until you reach an hour. Afterwards, with a razorblade scrape off the top layer of the tint in long strokes. If the film isn’t coming off smoothly, reapply the detergent water and let it rest for another 30 minutes or so.
A third method which is a bit more inconvenient makes use of ammonia, plastic bags, soap, some tarp and some sunshine. First cut the plastic bags into the shape of the window then apply soapy water to the outside of the window then cover with one of the plastic bags. Then smooth the plastic flat. Now on the inside you have to protect the internal surfaces of your car, this is what the tarp is for. Use it to cover the interior of your car. Now, spray the undiluted ammonia onto the inside windows and be sure to wear a facemask while doing so. While the ammonia is still wet trap it with a plastic bag and smooth it out. Be sure that your car is left under the heat of the sun. After a while, remove the plastic bag and slowly peel off the tint. It should come off easily, if not, continually apply ammonia to the tint as you go along.
There are a lot of ways to get rid of your old window tint. So stop worrying about how to remove window tint. It’s easy enough to get done. All it takes is for you to get started.
